Setting Word 97

Please - Help me

I am using the Microsoft word and trying to use all the

program facilities .

I go around and around the Word windows in order to

discover where is the hidden setting to

solve my problem.

And now the problem.

When I use the minus sign (--------) repeatedly to separate

different parts of my job, it assume ,I don't know what, and

put a line of equal sign(======) that I am not able to cancel,

or move out of the page.

Give me, please, some help.
