Settings change by themselves

I have a user that has the "Use Microsoft Word 2002 to edit email messages" checked. It uses Word, spell checks, auto-corrects, able to use Synonyms. For no apparent reason, the box gets unchecked. This user does not know how to make this change. Any ideas on how this might change back by itself
