Settings on autoshapes and text boxes.

Sometimes when I am using text boxes or autoshapes, they will only let me
adjust them by a line depth, I want to adjust them by much less, it seems to
come and go so I presume it is some setting, what can I do?

Use R-click, Format Text box, Size, instead of dragging the corner.
