Sharing Resources -

Pat

I am evaluating MS Project for my company and I need
advice from those who are users. We have 50+ software
developers(resources) and the four managers need to share
the resources between projects. I have been reading about
enterprise project management with Project 2002 Server.
Is it necessary to use MS Project Web Access to share
resources between projects? If MS Project Web Access is
used does that require the use of SharePoint Team
Services? I do not understand about all the software
pieces and what is needed to share resources. If we share
resources is that done using the Web or can it be done
just using MS Project?

Thanks for any insight or recommendations.

Yes, you can share resources across all projects thanks to the server.
You do not need the other pieces. The Global Resource Pool sits on the
server itself, and any project that is checked onto the server, and is
using Global Resources, will draw from the available time for those
resources. The Web Access is nice to have your resources update their
tasks on their own. It can also be used for status reporting, if you
use a laptop and projector at meetings. You do not have to have the
SharePoint Services installed to use the Web Access, either.
