Show footnote only once per page

My word document currently has several footnotes attached
to paragraphs. It often happens that the "same" footnote
(i.e. identical footnote text and symbol) is attached to
multiple paragraphs appearing on the same page.
Currently, Word shows such footnotes multiple times (of
course, it doesn't know which ones are duplicates).
Is there a way to have Word show the footnotes only once
per page?
I know, I could replace the 2nd, 3rd, .... footnote
duplicate footnote on a page into ordinary text formatted
with the footnote style (so it looks like a footnote
reference). But this breaks, if the document is changed
or the paper size changes, because this could mean a
paragraph appears on a new page.

Any ideas? Thanks for any input

Yes, but...

My problem is that this breaks when paragraphs are moved
to other pages.

For example:

---- page 1---------------
Some paragraph here(1)

Some other paragraph here
with the same footnote(1)

-----
(1) Footnote 1
--------------------------

Your idea is to have the first (1)
as a real footnote and the 2nd (1)
as a reference to the footnote.

This breaks if - due to later
modifications or paper size changes
- a page break is inserted
between the two paragraphs, i.e.
the second moves to a different page.
Then it has a reference, but the footnote
text should appear on the 2nd page also.

I can't help you with that. Either you insert the footnote as many times as
it's needed, or you insert it once, with cross-references. I can't see that
this would be a problem unless you're restarting the numbering on each page.
