Silly Question

I know that this is probably simple to some people but I
am fairly new to this web design stuff.

I have a text file which is basically an output from our
Mainframe telephone directory. I would like to be able
to search this file using a simple form with a number of
fields that the user can fill in. I do not want them to
have to fill them all in of they do not want to.

Then I would like the results displayed.

Is this a simple thing to do?

I am using Frontpage 2002. I have tried the database
results form but this does not let you partially fill in
a field!

Any help would be great.
