Single user Outlook 2007 license for desktop and laptop

What is the cheapest way I can get an Outlook 2007 license that I can
use on both my desktop and laptop?

As long as you are the only user, the license in a retail box is good for a
desktop and a portable. it is not good for a desktop and a laptop if you and
your spouse both use the computers - it has to be for computers that won't
both be used at the same time.

I highly recommend buying the office suite, not just outlook - you'll have a
better experience when all of the office apps are the same version.

Thanks for confirming this. I was only able to find similar licensing
information on the MS site for...Malaysia. Glad that applies to the
U.S. too!

You're probably right. I'll have to have a second look at pricing. The
version that would be perfect for my needs would be Office Basic
(Word, Outlook, and Excel) -- but that only seems to come in an OEM
version permitting a one-machine install.

office standard adds PowerPoint to the mix and is valid on a desktop and
portable. I have no idea the price differential. Also, if you own a
qualifying version of a previous office suite, you qualify for upgrade
pricing.

There is a home office & student version which allows 3 installs, without
the single user clause, but it doesn't include outlook. However, it's often
less expensive to buy this and a copy of outlook - especially if you need
word/excel for a spouse or child's computer and they don't use outlook.

Excellent idea! That would be just right for us and would eliminate
the hodgepodge of versions running on different computers whose
licenses and maintenance requirements I'm constantly mixing up.

This would also be an attractive possibility, but I can't find
definite information on MS's site as to whether an upgrade, such as

would be licensed for just one machine or both my desktop and laptop.
Can you advise me on this?

upgrade EULAs typically have the desktop-portable single user clause.

Is it as simple as loading the program, Office Professional 2007 in my case,
on the laptop (I have already done so on my desktop). Does the laptop require
a prior version as well since this is an upgrade or will the licensing
process understand this is my second load of this program onto a laptop? I
don't want to run into any problems that will result in downtime. Many thanks.

in the past you just needed to provide the CD for the older version, but I
haven't installed the upgrade version of office 2007 so I don't know if it
works as previous versions and just needs to "see" the cd or if it's like
Vista and only upgrades over a previously installed version.

Try installing it on the laptop - keep your old version CD handy in case it
asks for it. It won't get very far into the installation before you find out
if its going to work.
