I have cuurently finished a slide show presentation that
consists of pictures for a wedding (the bride/groom
growing up with music)... I need to know if its possible
to change this into a movie or media file to put onto a
DVD? If so, which type of software/hardware would I need?

If you're using PowerPoint 2001 or X, you could try using the Export as
QuickTime Movie feature (File -> Make Movie). If the results as viewed in
QuickTime Player are satisfactory, you can then drag the QuickTime movie
into iDVD. More instructions on integrating QuickTime Movies into iDVD
projects can be found in iDVD Help.

If you're using a different version of PowerPoint, or need a more accurate
result than what you see with the built in Export feature, you can use an
application like Snapz Pro X 2
<http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/snapzprox/> to capture the video in
QuickTime format, which can then be inserted into a DVD project.

Obviously, to create DVD's, you need a DVD writer and DVD writing software.
One of the most popular DVD writing programs on the Mac is iDVD from Apple
<http://www.apple.com/ilife/idvd/>.
