Sort Text and Special

Hi All:

I have a column which contains records with text format and records with
special format. Now I need to sort them but I have to change their format
to text first. I cannot change the records with special format because I
need to keep leading zeros. What can I do? Thanks for any advice or
suggestion.

Do all the specially formatted cells use the same format?

Maybe a helper column:

=if(isnumber(a1),text(a1,"000000"),a1)

Use the same number format that the cell uses.

Then copy it down and sort by that column.
