How do I reference specific task in custom field?

for example,
I have a fixed project enddate -- 6/30/06
I have a couple of tasks that should happend on Above Task Date - 21 days

Boy, I had to read your post several times to get what you were saying.
Just a suggestion - proofreading your question before posting can do
wonders.

I don't understand what a custom field has to do with your example - it
is unnecessary. The example describes a "simple" link between the two
tasks and the end date [milestone]. There are various ways to set up the
links you need. Assuming the end date is described by a milestone, the
following link (Predecessor field) on each of the two tasks will get
what you want:

[finish milestone ID]SF-21d
