J

Jake O.R.

when i open an enterprise project from a workstation running project 2003
pro. the following error occurs. If I open it on Project 2003 pro on the
server it does not do this. any clues?

Connection failed
SQLState; "01000'
SQL Server Error: 52
[Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server Driver] [DBNETLIB] ConnectionOpen (Connect()).
Connection failed;
SQLState: '08001'
SQL Server Error: 17
[Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server Driver] [DBNETLIB] SQL server does not exist or
access denied.

After the error window, a window pops up asking for the connection
credentials again. After confirming them a few times, the project will open.

Jake:

If you don't have a copy of the EditSite tool for Project Server, please
download it from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads and install it on your
server. Run it and use the test button and let us know what results you get.
Also, check that your SQL Server is set to mixed authentication mode and is
set to use TCIP as well as named pipes.

Hi Gary,

I used the Edit Site.exe tool and sure enough, it was set to local host. I
changed this to the name of the server and the problem was solved.

Thanks for your help.

Jake.

Hello Garry, I've got the same problem like Jake and hope you are still
watching this thread. My SQL error is slightly different though. I get the:
Connection failed
SQLState; "01000'
SQL Server Error: 53(!!!)
[Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server Driver] [DBNETLIB] ConnectionOpen >(Connect()).
Connection failed;
SQLState: '08001'
SQL Server Error: 17
[Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server Driver] [DBNETLIB] SQL server does not exist >or access denied.

I found the microsoft kb on that here:
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;837653&spid=2525&sid=36

Did this, IP is set, does not change anything.
I also checked that SQL is set to TCP/IP and Named Pipes.

After the error occures, the windows with the specific settings for the sql
connection comes up and I can set the name of the server to any ip I want, it
still is the same error message.

Thanks for any ideas!

Paul
