Start a task

Hi
If Task A finishes at 3pm on a Monday, for example, is it possible to force
Task B to start on the next day at 8am rather than immediately after Task A
has completed on Monday?

Thanks

Hello teach1,

This may be accomplished by putting a small buffer task in between
Task A and Task B. The buffer task will have a task calendar which
allows working time after the usual end of the working day.

For example:
Create a calendar which allows working time after 5:00 pm (5:01 pm for
example). Then add a task with a one minute duration between Task A &
Task B. Link task A to buffer task in a Finish to Start relationship.
Link the buffer task to task B in a finish to start relationship.
Assign the task calendar to the buffer task. The buffer task will be
scheduled for 5:01 pm, task B will start at the beginning of the next
working day.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Julie

Your suggestion was perfect. Thanks again.

Just another quickie!! Are you able to protect a Table in Project?

Hello teach1,

Great, glad to hear you got all sorted out.

To your question of protecting a table -- I assume you wish to prevent
people from changing information in specific fields or changing the
table. Sorry, neither is possible. If give someone a project file,
they have full access to all fields, tables, and views. You can
password protect a file but most people either print the relevant
views to a PDF file, export the data to excel, or save the file to
HTML. FAQ #16 "Project viewer" on the website under my signature will
add some additional information.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
