Start date ########

When I view my GANTT chart, most of the entries in the "Start" column
are "########".
Does anyone know how to force MS Project to automatically display the
Start date by working back from the Finish date using the "Duration"?

If I click on an individual entry and display the calendar, it
indicates the correct back-calculated Start date. However, even if I
select this date from the calendar, the display still shows "#####".

Ideally I'd like to find a solution that automatically calculates the
start date for every task, rather than having to go through each one
individually.

Thanks .............. Martin

The ####### is displayed because your columns are too narrow. Widen
them and make sure the format is to your requirements (you may not wish
to display the time for example).

To schedule from the finish date, you can select that option from
Project/Project Information/Schedule from, but it is generally
recognised that this is a bad thing as you will find yourself with
little slack on your tasks and consequently no contingency for overruns etc.
