Start/Finish vs. Actual Start/Finish

Baseline is set as the "Projected" dates you anticipate completing a task.
Start and Finish are normally used to show when you have actually
started/finished a task. When are Actual Start/Finish columns/dates used?

I've shown the Start/Finish and the Actual Start and Finish columns side by
side. Why is it that when I update the dates in either the "actual" columns,
it automatically changes the "start and finish dates"?

Start/finish are your latest calculated dates. Baseline dates are a copy of
start/finish. Actual dates are when tasks actually start. Start/finish must
always=actual dates because they are the latest ones.

So, set the baseline when you have an agreed schedule. You can save
additional baselines at the beginning of each phase.

This answer is useful. Thank you.
Along those lines, I set the baseline for my project, but now I 've found an
error. Task information shows the start and finish dates I want for an
activity, but the dates on the schedule are different. I don't see any
constraints on the task information either.

Hi, thank you for your help. My baseline schedule for a task shows a 12 03 07
start date, which is incorrect. If I click on the date cell it reveals the
task information box. It shows a start date of 12 31 07, which is correct.
FYI, I already saved the schedule a baseline. Joe
