Strange behaviour with microsoft project that is driving me mad!!!!!!!

Hi,

I am using Microsoft Project 2003 Standard Edition and getting some
unusual behaviour.

1. I create a number of tasks (a,b,c)with different durations etc. -
no problem
2. I then link the tasks with task 'b' having 'a' as a predecessor and
'c' having 'b' as a predecessor + type = "Finish To Start (FS)"

Whatever I do all three tasks start at the same time i.e. task 'b'
will not start when task 'a' finishes and so on.

I'm really going a bit crazy here - this is one of the basic things
project is supposed to do and I'm not getting it (literally!)

I'd really appreciate any guidance folks on this group could offer me!

Make sure there aren't any constraints on the tasks. They should all be
marked "Start as soon as possible" on the Advanced tab of the Task
Information box. Booking actual work will also lock a task down. Make sure %
Complete is zero.

Another possibility
Press F9, recalculate.
Tools/Options/Calculations (tab) set to automatic.

You didn't type start dates did you? See Mike's post
