Strange Excel 2007 Problem

Hi there peeps,

I've got this completely strange problem which has me beaten at the moment.
If you open an excel file by double clicking it, the file doesn't open but
excel does with a gray screen. If you click on the Round start button then
the file magically opens.

I have tried repairing the installation, uninstalling office and
reinstalling but that hasn't work. I have also updated XP to SP3 and
currently installing SP1 for office 2007 which i don't think will make a
different.

Any thoughts?!?

Could it be just a loooooong delay?

Try this, go into Excel Options, Add-ins, Manage Excel Addins, and then
Enable one of the Add-ins like Solver or Analysis Toolpak. Now try
double clicking the file and see if the file opens after a brief delay
when Excel has opened.
