Students can't open file

My students have worked on a Power Point project for a couple of weeks. I
have had 3 students who can no longer open their file. Message states that
part of the file is missing and it can not be opened. Is there anything I
can do about this or do they have to start overs? Please help.

The first thing I would do is check to see if you are using PowerPoint 2003.
If you are, go to the Help menu and choose Check for Updates (or have your
Technology Specialist do this if you don't have access to install software).
A likely culprit is that Service Pack 1 has not been installed. This fixes a
lot of problems like this. When PowerPoint 2003 was originally released, it
had a lot of trouble reading presentations (some created by PowerPoint 2003
and many created in earlier versions of PowerPoint). Service Pack 1 fixes
this.

If that doesn't help, let us know, and someone will give you more advice.

Any chance they were working off a floppy-disk/thumb-drive?

The is only one case where working off of removable media is acceptable.
That case is where you do not care if the presentation is lost.

There is a small chance that there may be a tmp file on the hard drive that
contains most or at least some of the presentation. Look for tips on this
