switching pictures

Hi.

I've been getting into animation, but the one hangup I've found is that if I
choose one photo and animate it well, but then need to change the image, all
the animation (and formatting of the page/slide) has to be redone. Is there
no way to switch the photo as I can do in, say, Publisher?

Thanks,

David

Thanks, Sonia, but as far as I can see, this only covers switching
Autoshapes. My problem is switching pictures (photos) and I don' think it
applies.

Any other suggestions? :)

Thanks!

Glen's trick is to fill the autoshape with a picture. That way, you can
change the animation of the autoshape, which in essence changes the
animation of the picture. It's the only game in town. If you want to
change the animation of a picture inserted via Insert > Picture > Picture
from file, you'll have to do it manually.

David,

Sonia has got it spot on!...

If you animate an autoshape with a picture as its background, you can change
the picture and keep all of the animations. That is:

1. Animate a picture, then
Change the picture = animations are gone,

2. But... animate an autoshape with a picture background, then
Animations are tied to the autoshape, but not the picture,
So, you can change the picture background without losing the animated
autoshape.

Thank you, guys. I think I've got it. I had a feeling that was how it was
supposed to work but I couldn't figure out how to make a picture a
background for an Autoshape.

Now I see how:

Go to: Format Autoshape
Click on Fill/Colour/Fill Effects
Click on Select Picture

This is the easiest way, right? A few steps, but it should save me a lot of
headache. Thanks.

Now, is there a way of doing this with a linked object like an excel chart
rather than a picture?

:)
