I use Outlook 2003 SP2 in hosted Exchange Server mode (outside host is server).
If I want to force a manual sync of Outlook with the server before closing
it, so I know all very recent changes I made will reflect on the server and I
also know that it won't be in the middle of doing a sync when I close it, can
I do that and, if so, how? Do I click "Tools -- Send/Receive -- This Folder
(Microsoft Exchange Server) Shift-F9" and wait until the sync icon in the
SysTray turns back to a normal icon? Will it do the job? Will it only affect
the folder I'm in (Mail, or Calendar, etc)?
One reason I asked the question below is that last night before leaving my
office I made a few changes in my Calendar (dragged a bunch of items to
different days), then paused a few moments and noticed that the SysTray icon
and status at the bottom right of Outlook were indicating Outlook was up to
date. So, I closed Outlook and went home for the night. Later on, though, at
home, I found that Outlook there would not reflect those recent changes after
syncing it -- it seems my office PC never got them synced up to the server
before I closed the program. (Also, I seem to have had issued a while back
when closing Outlook while it's syncing, so now I try to avoid that by
allowing a few moments and watching the status indicators.)
