Task Useage by resource

I want a view where it will show for each resource their task for the next 2
weeks. The problem I get is that I need to use the task view because that
will show the summary tasks of the task, where the summary of the resource
view shows the actual resource. I can't figure a way without manually asking
for each resource.

Hi Nanc,

If you want to be able to view the information by resource, you need to
use the resource usage view. However, you can display the Task Summary
Name in the Resource Usage view to help track down which summary tasks
the assignments fall under.

You can also create a custom group in the Resource Usage view to
organize the assignments by Summary task name. Choose Project > Group
By > More Groups. Click the New button to open the Group Definition
dialog box and create a new group. Name the group as you like.
First row Group By:
Field: Name
Field Type: Resource
Order: Ascending

Click the check box "Group assignments not resources"

Second Row:
Then By: Task Summary Name
Field Type: Assignment
Order: Ascending or descending as you choose

Click OK to close the Group Definition dialog box, click Apply to apply
the new group.

The Total Work will show for Resource, Task Summary Name, and
assignment.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

I have a similar question. Using resource usage to help manage my utilization
of equipment. My problem. This equipment has 10 stations, if I want to use
5 stations, I put down "50%" under units. Then I can schedule the other 5
stations with "50%" under units. This allows them both to run during same
time frame, but when looking at the resource usage summary -- they only list
the hours as 50% of the total time. How can I set up to have 100% hours used
and split my resource, during the same time interval? Any help would be
appreciated.

Hi John,

If you have 10 stations, you should set the maximum units for the
resource at 1000%. To use 5 of the 10 stations assign 500%, this will
leave you 500% left to use.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Yes, this worked really well. The problem is we are still using Project 2000
and so those items aren't available. I have a test version of 2003 and it
works just great. I even saved the file and 2000 could still bring it up,
not with the new features, but I can work around that. Next task is to
convince them to upgrade.

Is it possible to not have the words TASK SUMMARY show on all the summary
tasks and just show the name of the summary task?

Hi Nanc,

Glad to know the suggestion worked. Sorry, I didn't know you were using
Project 2000 and that grouping wouldn't be available.

To your new question about removing the words "Task Summary Name", sorry,
no, not to the best of my knowledge.

I hope this helps.
