Team Name and Cost Type

TroyS

I have project server 2007 installed. I'm seeing Team Name and Cost Type in
the Custom Resource fields when i edit a resource. Since i did not set these
up i'm assuming there are out-of-the-box like RBS is.

The Team Name appears to be a text field. I'm wondering how this should be
used in conjunction with the RBS. Typically, RBS might represent a department
hierarchy. However, RBS is indented field whereas the Team Name text field
would not do this.

Any ideas or links on how best to use Team Name.

I have similar questions around cost type as a text field now that we have
new cost fields such as Budget.

thx

Troy, the concept of a team is different to the RBS. Your team name does have
nothing to do with access rights, unlike RBS.

you will have to update the lookup table in order to create a list of Team
names. You then create a generic resource with the same name then a team name
and assign this resource to the team as well. Essentially a Project Manager
can now choose the "generic team resource", assign him to the task and each
resource that is associated to this team has the ability to "self assign"
them the task of the team.

This is in a nutshel how the team functioanlity works.
