text box and a drawing bar

I have to PIC a text box and a drawing bar I would like to put the Text box
and drawing bar closer together but when I move them closer together the just
move further apart on there own

Hi Jason,

I'm not certain I understand everything you have (might be a language
barrier). You also don't tell us the version of Word you have, which makes
it difficult to suggest what you might try. However...

Right-click each of these objects and choose the "Format" command for that
object type from the context menu. Go into Layout; click "Advanced". In the
"Picture position" tab make sure the checkbox "Allow overlap" is activated.
