Text boxes

I am using Microsoft Word Office 2003. When I try to insert a text box, I
get a big box with the words "Insert your text box here" and then a smaller
text box within that. I just want a simple text box, not a big one with
shaded corners the way it appears now. Is there a way I can turn off that
feature to just get a simple text box?

On the General tab of Tools | Options, clear the check box referring to the
drawing canvas.
