Text does not appear in footer into which graphic has been inserted

Hello

Using Word 2002 SP-2 on Windows 2000 V5 SP-4.

I have been given a Word doc to turn into a template. The doc has a large
graphic (whole page) on the first page and another large graphic on the 2nd
page, which is in a separate section. The Text Wrapping option for both
graphics is greyed out.

When I try to add text to either the header or footer in either section the
text is invisible. If I insert a field into the footer you can see the
field codes when you toggle but not any resulting value. In another
interesting twist, even when I delete the graphic (the anchor is still
there) I still can't see the text I've typed.

I've done the usual trawl through previous postings, and searched the Web,
but have not been able to find a solution and the problem is becoming quite
urgent. Unfortunately I'm not that great with the Word front-end: being a
developer I'm much more comfortable around the back-end vba stuff!

I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance

Hi, Denise. Just a wild guess here... is the font color in the header and footer set to white?

No, the font colour is definitely not white. I have tried with various
colours but it is set toAutomatic at the moment. Also, any text I place in
the main body of the document is visible.
