Totla time of task

How can I make the total time for a task not include time when there
are no subtasks. For example a task of developing a learning package
might contain 4 sub-tasks each of 6 days duration but the total task
time for development is given as 45 days because there are gaps between
the end of one sub task and the beginning of another.

Hi Gramps,

If the development tasks are subtasks underneath the summary task
"Develop Learning Package", then the summary task duration will be 45
days. Summary task durations are the amount of time spanning from the
start of earliest of the subtasks to the finish of the latest of the
subtasks.

However, although the Duration will show 45 days, the Work for the
Summary task (sum of the work of the subtasks) will only be the work for
each of the 6 day duration tasks.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

You need the duration minus the number of days in which work is zero. I
can only see VBA as a solution.
