Hi All,

would it be possible to make the background of a scanned image transparent
for a publication?

What version Publisher?
There is a transparency tool on the picture toolbar, select your image, select the
tool and click on the background of the picture.

In addition to Mary's reply, I would recommend using an image editing
program such as Photo Paint, Paintshop, PhotoDraw etc for more precise
transparent touch up. Publisher is limited in its ability.
