trick to saving PPT files when NOT connected to server

,We use Small Business Server and my laptop synchronizes with the files on
the server when I log in at work. I am just getting into PowerPoint, but I
was having trouble saving large PowerPoint 2003 files in My Documents when
NOT connected to the server at work (ie, on my laptop at home). My laptop
(which has plenty of memory and is relatively new) hung up; changes were not
saved. Our IT consultant suggested saving the file at the root of the C
directory instead, which works like a charm. When working at home I also save
the file to a flash drive, so I have a back up. I wonder if there is some
glitch with how it saves re how it will synchronize with the server later. I
have also saved the same files easily to the laptops's desktop. The problem
was just saving it to My Docs NOT connected to the server. Hope this helps
someone else!
