Trying to create an address booklet

Hi,

I am trying to revise an existing address directory for my
guild. Currently it is in Publisher 2000 format and has a
photo attached to each address. It is run on a landscape
page format and the pages are stapled in the middle of the
booklet, and thus the middle of the alphabet. The
challenge is that I need to figure out a way easily add in
new addresses and photos to the booklet when it is sorted
from the middle of the alphabet outward in both directions
each time a revision is made. Any ideas about how to do
this in either Word or Publisher?

I can easily set up two columns and then add a table per
column, but that won't solve the sorting problem whenever a
new address is added.

I hope this makes sense. It makes sense if you see any
little booklet that has staples in the middle of it where a
8.5" x 11" sheet is used in landscape format. Write if you
need clarification... I'll try :)

Hoping there's an easy way to set this up, perhaps a
template is available somewhere (I haven't found one so far?)

The implication of running Publisher 2000 is that you are probably also
running Word 2000, which does not have an inbuilt facility to produce
booklet formats (unlike Word 2002 in which this was introduced) Word does,
however have the facility to mail merge and the production of a mailmerged
address directory with photographs, while a little tricky to set up
initially, is fairly straightforward to maintain.

There are solutions to producing the booklets, including macros and third
party add-ins of which Clickbook is the most effective (although Clickbook
will annoy the hell out of you with interminable spam e-mails). Some of
these solutions can be found at
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Formatting/BookletPrinting.htm.

As for Publisher, Clickbook will work with any application as it augments
the printer driver, but for advice on using Publisher you need to seek out a
Publisher newsgroup of which there are several.
