Turn on Project Guide command on View menu (2007)

I have talked to four people about this one. I have a command on my PRoject
2007 View menu "Turn on PRoject Guide" which toggles to "Turn off Project
Guide". However, another person never sees that command even if the Options
are set to show the PRoject Guide. Another person saw the command on her
desktop machine, but didn't see it on the laptop machine.

Does anyone know what the conditions are for this command to appear?

Hello Bonnie,

The menu choice View > Turn on Project Guide is just a shortcut way to
the same result as Tools > Options, Interface tab "Display Project
Guide" command.

As far as I know, it is available in all versions of Project 2007.

You report that other people do not see the command -- are they working
with the short menus enabled? If they open the View menu and slide
their mouse to the double down arrows at the bottom to expand the
menu -- do they see the command?

I am assuming you are all running either the trial version or the
release version?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Julie,

I do know it's a shortcut, but I'm trying to document behavior. The other
people who tried it are all very experienced and either use full menus or
know to expand the menus. My View menu includes Turn on PRoject Guide
regardless how the option for the Project Guide is set. One person doesn't
see the command regardless how her PRoject Guide option is set.

And yes, we are all using released software.

Hi Bonnie,

Sorry for the delay in replying and thanks for the additional
information. I can confirm that the option "Display Project Guide"
appears in my menu regardless of the setting on the Interface tab in
Tools > Options. To the best of my knowledge, there is no switch to set
it either off or on.

I'm afraid the only "fix" I can suggest is to run the Office Diagnostics
on the one computer where the menu option is not visible. If all
software has been installed on the same OS with the same installation
settings it sounds as though one of the installations may be flawed.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
