Type to a Copy document

O

Old Geaser

I just bought a last will and testament. I found it has to be typed. I
have not had a typewriter since my first computer. I made a copy with my
scanner of one page, thinking I could use word to do the typing. If there
is a way, I do not know how. Is it possible to type on a scanned copy? If
so could you tell me what to do. Thanks

Insert the scanned image. Set the layout property to 'behind text'. Set the
image to full size and position it so that if fills the page. You can then
type over it.

Graham,

Thanks for the reply. I am at a total loss. I have been using Word for
several years, but only for writing letters. If it is possible, could you
tell me the step by step to get to where I can type on the scanned document?
I have the scanned file in My Documents. It is a InfranView (Zoom:509 x
701)JPG file. Sure would appreciate a step by step way to do it. Thanks

Insert > Picture > From File - select your image.
Right click the image > Format picture
Layout > Behind Text
The image is now free floating
Right click the image again > Format Picture > Size = 100%
Select and drag the picture so that it fills the Word page area
Click the grey area that surrounds the page.
The cursor will now be over the document. Type away.

Graham,

I think I am close. After dragging the picture to fill page, I Click the
grey area around the picture. I now have a curser arrow with a + mark with
arrows the on + . The arrow and + are together. I cannot set the curser
where I want to type. Thanks

Clicking the grey area deselects the picture. The page is now an ordinary
page on which to type as though the picture was not present. You may find
that you select it again when typing - especially if you try to use click
and type. To avoid this, cut and paste the image to the first page header of
the document.

You may find it simpler to put a borderless table on your page to locate the
areas where you wish to type rather than use the ridiculous click and type
which makes re-editing difficult.

Grahan,

I guess I am to old to understand all of this. I am now in the process of
rewriting the will, using Word. I am patering it after the will I have now.
I appreaciate all of your help. Maybe there is others reading this that can
make it work. Thanks for your time and effort.
