Unable to have multiple Gmail IMAP accounts in Entourage 2008

I've just encountered a baffling issue and I am hoping someone here
has a solution. I am currently unable to have more than one Gmail IMAP
account in Entourage at any given time. I just updated to Entourage
2008 SP1, but since I didn't attempt to add the 2nd Gmail IMAP account
prior to SP1, I can't say for certain whether this is a new problem or
existed previously. I have confirmed that I am able to run multiple
Gmail IMAP accounts in Mail.app (Leopard) and I am able to run
multiple other IMAP accounts in tandem in Entourage 2008, but as soon
as I add a 2nd Gmail IMAP account to Entourage, I start getting
"invalid credentials" errors for both accounts and am unable to use
either one. If I remove one of the accounts, without changing anything
else (the credentials are correct, despite what the error says),
everything is fine. I googled the invalid credentials error and found
instructions (not Entourage specific, but the same error) to clear the
Google captcha and I have followed those instructions but that has not
resolved the problem, which only exists in Entourage. I'd really like
to access both of my Gmail accounts via IMAP with Entourage but the
only way I can get thing working is with a single Gmail IMAP + the 2nd
one as POP. Unfortunately that is not practical for what I am trying
to accomplish with a few rules that require IMAP for both of these
accounts (the rules and everything else work fine with just the one
IMAP account, regardless of which account it is so I know it's not
account specific).

Does anyone have any clue as to what the problem might be? It's as if
Entourage can only keep track of a single Gmail IMAP account at a time
and when trying to synchronize more than one it gets confused.

Thanks - Laurie

I just confirmed that you can have two Gmail IMAP accounts in Entourage 2008
with SP1. Create a new identity and add the two Gmail IMAP accounts and see
what happens?
