underline all the way

When I type three "dashes" and press enter I a line all the way across the
page. When I type three "equal signs" and press enter I get a double line
all the way across the page. Is there any way to turn this feature off.

Yes, Stephen. It's an Autocorrect/Autoformat as you type feature. See:

Borderlines would be the culprit, I believe.
