Unusually Large Document Sizes

I have noticed a quite a few word documents I have saved are unusually
large in size for what they contain. Most of these documents have
originated as a template, saved as a word document then have been
edited and re-saved as a new document. One of them I noticed was
493KB for only about 1/2 page of text. Another is 1275KB for even
less content! I deleted all the text in one of these documents then
saved it and even when there was no content it still said the document
was 493KB. With 100's of these documents saved on my PC, surely I can
save

Can someone tell me if they have had a similar problem with re-saving
a document several times. Sometimes I do this up to 20-30 times.

I haven't had the version saving option enabled, but noticed that
under the document properties it tracks how many times the document
has been revised.

Is there a limit on how many times you can open then re-save a
document? Or is there a way of re-sizing a document somehow after you
have re-saved it as another document?

If anyone can help, thank you!
