Use of Account on Multiple Computers

Groove's purchase of a single license allows the use of an account and
software on 5 other computers.

However, when I install Groove on my 3rd computer it asks for an activation
key. If I input my activation key and then log in to my account on
www.groove.net, it informs me I have too many licenses in use and that I need
to revoke one.

How do I install Groove so that it knows I am using the software from the
same accoutn without it complaining that I need to revoke a license?

Thanks,
C

Hi 512dude,

First, let me explain one issue to you: Each Groove account is created with
a unique digital fingerprint. Creating a new account with the same name,
contact information, and activation key as your former account will not
recreate your old account; it will create a completely new account that is
easily confused with your old account.

For more info, please refer to the following article:
http://www.groove.net/support/kb/detail.cfm/docnum/TCN-02078

To resolve this issue, please revoke the new accounts on the new computers
and only remain your initial Groove account on your old computer. Then,
please refer to the following article to use your account on 5 computers:

Is this isuse resolved?

Sara - first;y thanks for your support and response. I'll buy you a latte
for your quick reply.

I logged into my Groove web account and noticed that there are two "users"
listed, my original account and one which I likely created during the 3rd
install of the software. So these will have unique digital fingerprints as
you mention.

I logged into my first computer and checked the digital fingerprint of the
account on that machine and will ensure that computer 2 and computer 3 are
also using that same account by confirming the digital fingerprint.
(Preferences-Identity-More-Digital Fingerprint)

Is there a way to remove/delete the second account that I see in the list
under the My Software webpage? That way I won't inadvertantly have another
account activating itself since both have the same email address and password
associated.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your reply. :)

According to your description, when you go to Groove web account, you found
2 users listed. And you would like to remove it. If so, please perform the
following steps to revoke the second Groove account:

You can manage your Groove license by using your Groove web account to log
on www.groove.net http://www.groove.net . After you log on, then click my
software, you can revoke Groove license there.

After that, please go to your computer 2 and computer 3 to remove the Groove
account on it:

1. Log into Groove using the account you plan to delete.
2. Save any data unique to that account:
If that account is the only member of a workspace, save the workspace
as an archive.
If the account has Contacts the good account does not, right-click on
each Contact and choose Save Contact as File.
3. Remove your account listings: From the Options menu, choose Preferences,
then the Identities tab. Set both "List me in" boxes to "No Listing".
4. Identify the bad account: Also under the Identities tab, click the Edit
button and add "delete me" to the full name of your identity or identities.
5. Click the OK button
6. From the Options menu, choose Communications Manager and wait until
there are no bytes left to transmit, so you know the changes have made it
out.
7. From the Options menu, choose Preferences, then the Account tab. Click
the "Delete Account from this Computer" button, then the "OK" button.
8. Shut down and restart Groove to initiate the deletion process.
9. Shut down Groove again to complete the deletion process.

After removed the account on computer 2 and computer 3, please refer to the
following article to use your groove account on multiple computers:

Hi Sara,

I did revoke the license for the second account however, since the second
account was created with the same email address and password I'm not sure how
to confirm what account I have logged into and which account I am going to
end up deleting. In addition, if I look under the identities tab there is
only one account listed.

What to do now?

Hi Chris,

I think the account on your computer 2 and computer 3 are the accounts we
need to delete. Therefore, you can log on the account on computer 2 and
computer 3 and then perform the steps in my last reply:

1. Log into Groove the account.
2. Save any data unique to that account:3.

After the accounts on computer 2 and computer 3 are deleted. Please perform
the following steps:

On computer 1:
===========
1. From the Options menu, click Preferences, and then click the Account tab.
2. Click Setup Multiple Computers.
3. Fill in your e-mail address and Groove account password, and then click
OK. Note that your account must be secured with a password to use this
feature.

Then, leave this computer still on line and with Groove running.

On comptuer 2 and 3:
===============
1. Launch Groove and select to create a new account, in the Groove Account
Setup Wizard, click Use a Groove Account you have already created and then
click Next.
2. Enter the e-mail address and password for your account, and then click
Finish.

Then, download the workspace to the computer 2 and computer 3:

1. For each workspace in the Workspaces listing, click the workspace to
select it.
2. In the common tasks pane, click Get Workspace From, and then select a
source for the workspace data. The source must be online with Groove for the
new installation to obtain spaces from it.

Test this issue agian. Is this issue resolved? Can you use your account on
multiple computers?
