User has problem saving doc

Ben

When a particular user edits a word doc in the document
library and attempts to save the doc, there is no prompt to
save to the web site. With this users account on another
computer the user is prompted to save to the web site. The
user is on Windows 2000 professional but we have done it on
another Windows 2000 professional box with no problems.
Anyone had this problem, maybe it's a local setting with
rights? Thanks for help in advance!!!!

Ben:

Are the versions of Office the same on each machine. Generally, you can't
save unless you have an STS compatible version of Office XP or higher.

How would I know if the version of Office is STS
compatible, they are xp office though. The user can save
the doc but not to the web, just locally.

Thanks Gary!

Ben:

If you've got Office XP, you should be OK. The next thing to do would be
uninstall the Office Web Components from Add/Remove programs in the control
panel. This force them to be reinstalled the next time the user accesses one
of these pages. It may be that the OWCs on the users computer are not the
most current. You should also make sure your Office Service Packs are up to
date.
