Usine Publisher to format a novel

I have a completed novel that needs to be formatted before it can go to the
printer. Is this best done in Publisher or Word? If Publisher, where to I
start? I don't even know how to begin.

From reading other posts, it appears that there are some margin issues. I
need a 7/8 inch left margin and a 5/8 inch right margin with 3/4 top and
bottom.

Can publisher put in a watermark or a simple line graphic on only certain
pages?

Any help for a true beginner would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

JoAnne: Thank you so much. Would still love info on how to begin to use
publisher but I'll go ahead and work with word for the book.

Thanks again.

If you were doing a children's storybook with lots of pictures, I'd tell you
to use Publisher but I am assuming that your novel isn't chock full of
graphics. Plus you should check with your publisher and ask them what format
they recommend. Not all printers will accept a Pub file.
