Using a template and I can't change dates or durations

I have a basic template at work and when I tried to enter start dates or end
dates, they were all greyed out. I removed all constraits and changed to
Start As Soon As Possible. I also changed all tasks to 0%. Finally I was
able to change the start date for the Project, but I still can't change any
dates or duration for any of the tasks.
