Using Office 2000 with Windows XP Home Edition

I recently upgraded from Win98SE to XP Home Edition.
While I can open Word, Excel, etc. I can not open an
existing Word or Excel File. I can create a document in
Word, save it, but can not re-open the file. Same goes
for Excel or any of the other Office programs. Instead I
get a "file not available" message. I believe I have all
the recommended updates for Office.
