Variable Task Duration

I am trying to assign a span of time for a specific task. For example 10-20
days for a task. I can't seem to figure out how to do this - is it possible?
If so, how?

I don't fully understand the question. A task at any moment in time on
a plan can only have a given duration. Over the course of time, it may
vary in response to various factors including the Project Manager
changing it or in response to actual progress on the Project.

If you want the task duration to change automatically in response to
changes in the Project Plan, then you need to look up hammock tasks.

The duration of any task can be set by using the duration column or
double-clicking on the task and setting its duration there.

Search MS Project for its PERT options (e.g. PERT Toolbar).
The PERT method (Program evaluation and Review Technique) is based on a
range instead of a fixed duration. Therefore, it requires input of two data,
"Pessimistic" and "Optimistic" duration.
