Viewing slide miniatures in Normal View

I am using Powerpoint 04 on a new IMac. I am used to the normal PowerPoint view, in which little miniatures of the slides appear on the left and a large version of the slide I'm working on appears in the center. In my version of Power Point, what appears on the left is an outline of the slides - in text form. This is not as easy for me to work with as the older form I'm used to. I'm sure there's some simple switch to throw to change the view, but I can't find it on any of the menus or in the preferences.

In PowerPoint 08, you can simply make your choice at the top of the column, but (apparently) not in PowerPoint 04.

I'd be grateful for help with this

Not a bit of help we can give on this one, Ed. The slide thumbnails panel
was not added to Mac PPT until the 2008 version. It doesn't exist in 2004 so
there is no "switch to throw". I don't know what you mean by "older form"
unless you're referring to a Windows version (2003 or prior on the PC).

Since you don't specify *how* it's "not as easy to work" I don't know what
to offer as a suggestion, but the most common uses are navigation &
reorganization. Both of those can be handled in Slide Sorter View... A
little less convenient for navigation but even more useful for rearranging.

You can also use the Outline Pane for those purposes, as well as for editing
the content of placeholders [not text boxes or other drawn shapes],
inserting new slides, etc. If you indicate what you specifically want to use
the pane for perhaps there are options available.
