I keep getting microsoft updates which are attached to a virus. How do I stop them. I don't remember ever requesting these updates. I am getting about 5 a day. All I did once was foolishly leave my email address on one of these pages

I think you are talking about emails you received regarding MS updates. The
only way to stop them is set up some type of spam mail protection. They are
not sent by Microsoft but by bored idiots disguising as Microsoft. Do not
ever run any updates this way because MS doesn't sent out updates, you will
have to downloaded from their website.

Microsoft make it a point that anyone that frequents their services know
that they will not send out security patches via email. If thye were to
update you on a security release, they would advise you via email but would
send a link to the microsoft website. something like ...

http://www.microsoft.com ./...

Do not install any supposed MS updates from any email[these are infected
bogus updates]. Only download from windows update site.
