Visio is changing my font

B

Brad - Melbourne

At work we have been using visio 2002 for a long time and have a large number
of template drawings complete with background pages containing the drawing
title block. In the title block we use Zapf Chancery as the company name
font. We have had no issues with this setup on a number of machines, all the
software is licenced and so is the font.
My machine has recently been upgraded to Visio 2003 from 2002.
When I open a Visio 2002 document the Zapf font displays correctly in the
title block but if I save (as Visio 2002), close then open the document the
Zapf font has been changed to Arial. I have to save the files as Visio 2002
format so my collegues can open the files. The Zapf font appears in my font
list, I can change the arial text back to Zapf and I can add new text to a
document in Zapf no problems but after the save close and open all the Zapf
text has changed to arial.
I have no issues with the font in any other office programme just visio
2003. I can find no reason for the font substitution.
I now have to complete my drawings in Visio 2003 then open them on a machine
running 2002 and change the font back then do the final save, what a pain!!!
Any ideas???

I believe this may be related to the switch to Unicode in Visio 2003.
Saving back to 2002 requires font substitution, which is causing your
headaches. I'm not sure if you have any options here. The behavior would
exist when saving from Visio 2003 or 2007 back to Visio 2000 / 2002.
