Visio Question

Thomas R Grassi Jr

I asked this before and received one answer but I replied and did not
receive another anser.

I just installed Visio 2000 SP2 on my Dell Laptop running Windows XP Home
SP2. When I run Visio 2000 I get these errors in my event log over and over
again:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MsiInstaller
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1015
Date: 7/11/2006
Time: 7:05:05 PM
User: TGKW001\Thomas R Grassi Jr
Computer: TGKW001
Description:
Failed to connect to server. Error: 0x800401F0

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Does anyone have any idea on this?

I know I have an outdated product but it works for what I need. I was
running it on a Windows 2000 Pro workstation before that computer went down.

The question I answered was that I installed Visio from a CD directly and
not a network install.

Please help

Thanks

Tom

Did it work correctly before installing Visio SP2?

What was the version number of the original Visio that you had
installed? Was it the Visio Corp version or the Microsoft Visio
version (effectively SP1)? If the former then I understand that SP2
won't work.

Can you uninstall SP2? Does it now work?

Can you uininstall Visio completely and reinstall the original
version? Does it now work?

Thanks for the responce.

The CD is Upgrade Microsoft Visio2000 TEchnical Edition SR-1

I am going to uninstall SP2 first if I can not I will uninstall VISIO
altogether then install again.

What is the difference? Does Microsoft have an SP2 update?

Thanks
Tom

That's probably the reason. Whatever you upgraded from, you will need
to install from that. An upgrade CD will not be a standalone product.

Any ideas on that since it was originally on my old pc before the system was
run over by spyware and whatever. I am not sure what I upgrade from.

Is there a way around this?

It seems to install and work fine just the error in the event log which is
very strange.

Thanks

Tom
