WBS/Sorting

D

Debra Ockerman

All of my subtasks are showing, I am trying to renumber
contiguous tasks (I assume that means the rows are next to
each other), all of my definitions use the number
(ordered) type, and in case it would cause any problems,
the subtasks I am trying to renumber do not have their own
subtasks. Yet when I try to Re-number only Selected
Tasks, it is still grayed out. I cannot get this option
to become available no matter what I do. Is there
anything else I need to do?

Another option: If you know an easier way to do this next
thing, then I may not need an answer to the above for
now. Here is the issue: Different tasks in my project
must have their subtasks sorted by different criteria, but
the Sorting dialog box will only allow me to sort the
entire project. Therefore, what I was trying to do above
was apply each of the sorting criteria to the whole
project, then renumber the WBS for the selected subtasks
that the sort I've just performed applies to. Then
sorting the whole project by WBS would put everything in
the right order. Is there another way to sort portions of
the project by different criteria?

Thanks,
Debra

Debra,
I'm a little confused about exactly what you want but here is an
approach you can try. Use the spare number or text fields as a criteria
identifier for each task. That will allow you to sort the overall
project by the different criteria. However, why not use one or more
filters to segregate the tasks with the same criteria?

Hope this helps.
John
