Weather related delays

I have a number of tasks within a schedule that i would like to represent as
being exposed to weather related delays. Since the schedule includes tasks
that are not affected by weather, I need to find a way to indicate that some
of the tasks are affected without all of the tasks being affected.

Thanks. A few additional questions: how do you assign 'weather calendar' to
specific tasks? Idea is that we have projected 'x' amount of days for a
specific task. As this work is exterior, we would like to graphically
indicate that we are also anticipating delays related to weather, and rather
than just add the days to the established duration, we would like to indicate
that said task will be strung out due to weather. The schedule we are
producing is for work that is not scheduled to begin until 2008 and last thru
august of 2009. Any thoughts?

You may use a spare field such as "Flag1" to indicate rain delay.
If Flag1="Yes" then this task is vulnerable to the weather.

To enhance this a little further, you may want to assign a different
calendar to tasks that may be subject to weather delays. You could create a
separate calendar (Tools/Change Working Time/New... (button)) and call it
"Weather"

Initially, the Weather calendar and the standard calendar are the same as
dictated by your business rules for holidays, etc. When a weather delay
happens, edit the Weather Calendar (Tools/Change Working Time...) and select
the Weather calendar. Change any weather day to a non-working day. You will
be rescheduled accordingly.

The Flag field will do nothing more than identify tasks that *may* be
subject to a weather delay. You can achieve the same effect by inserting the
indicators column which will display the calendar name assigned to the task.
All you have to do then is scan for that indicator. With the Flag, you would
be able to filter on it.

Just to prevent any mis-understanding, the DURATION is a measure of the
WORKING TIME between start and finish of the task. Taking out bad weather
days in a calendar does not therefore "expand the Duration" as defined.
What it will change is the number of calendar days between start and finish.
As Jim said, it also will not affect the Work.
