Web Limitations

How can I find out the difference in available functionality between the
forms created and opened in Infopath 2007 compared to those created to be web
browser enabled?

Thanks in advance.

There are a couple good pages out there, although I could not find the ones I
was looking for. Look on the Office and SharePoint sites.

You can also just create a browser compatible form and the designer will
limit you to only the compatible controls, etc.

Yah that was the one I was thinking of.

Thanks Gavin.

We need to talk sometime Gavin. Send me an email and we can discuss InfoPath.

Thanks guys much appreciated. Annoyingly the only feature I was really
relying on was the ability to submit to a SQL server Db..... Looks like that
wont happen in the browser.

Cheers

Hello,
1st, thanks for the great discussion. I am new to InfoPath development, but very quickly discovering how difficult it is to program a number of features for browser only implementations. At this time, my company has decided that InfoPath will not be a standard application avail. on our desktop image. On the other hand, there is a big push for InfoPath forms that submit to various SharePoint environments. From experience, I am finding that many things outlined on the MS article as "supported" are not fully supported in practice. For example: I was tasked with creating a course registration form to sign up employees for training courses. They can only choose one course per form, but have over 30+ course slots to choose from. I am able to use an expression box to display the current registration count (based on a form count against the source SharePoint library). I was trying to limit the registrant's ability to select full classes by utilizing InfoPath's conditional logic (Ex: If class is full, then user can't select course option, or can't submit form, OR course selection is not visible...) None of my attempted paths to program this worked in the browser only form! The browser-based implementation allows for a very limited set of conditions and/or rules per form! This includes buttons, and all other types of objects. It doesn't help that pop-up messaging isn't supported either. I am trying to make a case internally for why we need InfoPath installed on all of our internal PCs if we seriously plan to utilize Infopath forms. Do you know of other sites that outline the TRUE nature of compatibility when it comes to such nit-picky things as messaging and conditional logic limitations? Other things to note, email submissions only work for Exchange email servers. For now, we're a Domino shop, ugh!

Yours Truly,
Frustrated InfoPath newbie
