Whenever I try to save a picture from the web and insert
it into Word, it comes in blank. Also, when I save the
picture, the only options are .art and .bmp. Do these
not work with Word? Do I need to have some program on my
computer to do this?

Clear your "Temporary Internet Files" cache. If you're using Internet
Explorer, go to Tools | Internet Options and, on the General tab, click
Delete Files...
