The simple answer is "no". However, when setting up a schedule you
should NOT be directly entering dates for tasks. The only exception is a
task Start date may be entered if there are no valid predecessors for
that task and it does not start on the Project Start Date.
Task scheduling is why Project is used. That scheduling includes entry
of basic information by the user (i.e. Task Name, estimated duration,
and task links). Given that data Project then schedules the project.
Directly entering start and finish dates for tasks completely defeats
the reason for using Project.
