What software can I use to open a php file?

My friend gave me a disk with documents that have a php extension? She had
the millennium edition software, and I think the documents are to do with
home publishing. I thought Microsoft Publisher would open it, but it doesn't
- can anyone help? I have Windows XP on my system if that is of help.

It's likely that the file was created in Microsoft Picture It software and
you'll need that program to open the file(s).

if it's a php script for website, try Notepad.

When in doubt about a file extension, what it might be and what program
might open it, check http://filext.com/index.php (which happens to be a
php file!!)
