When I click on a saved Word Doc MS Office openes but not the Doc

When I click on a saved Doc MS Office 2003 opens then I have to go to Open
existing doc, the file containing then the doc. How can I set it up to open
the Doc directly?

Try this:

Start | Run

type "winword /regserver" (without the quotation marks; ensure there's a
space after winword)

This may help Word re-register the *.doc filetype.
